Awards: Outstanding! Great Northwest Wine
90 Points Wine Enthusiast

Yakima child psychiatrist George Petzinger continues to produce some of Washington State’s most thoughtful, small-production red wines, and here’s a meritorious expression of multiple vintages using Bordeaux varieties. Since he routinely shines with Malbec, it’s no surprise that some of his 2011 vintage of Malbec (40%) from Two Coyote Vineyard shares the spotlight with 2012 Cabernet Franc (40%) off Two Mountain Vineyard and Lonesome Spring Ranch. It’s rounded out with 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and 2010 Merlot from Two Coyote. The contributions of Malbec pop with ripe purple fruit aromas of Marionberry and Damson plum, which are joined by caramel, chocolate and black olive. Assertive blackberry and sweet pomegranate flavors make for a round and mouth-filling approach joined by supple tannins and pleasing kiss of chocolate. Few Northwest wineries will pursue nonvintage bottlings, and even fewer can match the balance of this.
